Without the right to a snippet, a page can rank and still lose every click to a competitor whose result shows text. It also removes the page from AI answers, which quote snippets rather than crawl.
The finding reads:
critical nosnippet snippets are forbidden: the page may sit in the index, but it will not appear in AI-search answers or rich resultsRemove `nosnippet` or `max-snippet:0`: without the right to a snippet the page reaches neither rich results nor AI answers.
Collapsed when it fires template-wide. If it appears on 90% or more of the pages — or of one language version — of a site with at least 20 pages, it is a property of the template and is reported once, with the count, instead of once per page.
