A link into a section of the build that points at a page the build does not have is a 404 on the live site. On a generated site it is usually a template linking to a data row that a filter kept out of generation — one line in the template, repeated on every page. Links to assets, feeds and sections not present in the checked directory are not judged.
The finding reads:
warning broken-link links to pages that are not in the build: … — ……. On the live site they are 404s unless the server redirects them
The links point at pages the build does not have. Find where the template takes these addresses from, and either remove the link or generate the page. If the server redirects these addresses, check that the redirect really exists.
Collapsed when it fires template-wide. If it appears on 90% or more of the pages — or of one language version — of a site with at least 20 pages, it is a property of the template and is reported once, with the count, instead of once per page.
Suppressed on JavaScript shells. A page with no text in its source HTML would trip this check for a reason that is already reported as js-shell, and repeating it four times is not four times as informative.
