A page with too little text has nothing to rank on and little reason to exist separately from its neighbours. The honest fixes are to fill it out or to merge it — padding it with filler makes the page worse and the problem invisible.
The finding reads:
warning thin about … words of text — a thin page
A hub, a listing or the home page is valuable for its links, not its words: never close them. Fill a row's page with facts from its data row; if there are none, ask whether the page should exist. The threshold is `checks.thin_words` in indexgap.json: lower it only if this content type is legitimately short, and do not pad the text.
Collapsed when it fires template-wide. If it appears on 90% or more of the pages — or of one language version — of a site with at least 20 pages, it is a property of the template and is reported once, with the count, instead of once per page.
Suppressed on JavaScript shells. A page with no text in its source HTML would trip this check for a reason that is already reported as js-shell, and repeating it four times is not four times as informative.
