Near-duplicates are a group problem: a single page out of a cluster of twenty cannot be fixed alone. Either one is kept and the rest point at it, or the whole group is pulled apart by intent.
The finding reads:
critical near-duplicate … identical to …… — the engine will keep one of them
Decide what to do with the whole group: keep one page and canonical the rest to it, or pull them apart by intent. A single page out of the group cannot be fixed alone.
Fixed as a group. A single page out of a duplicate cluster cannot be fixed alone, so indexgap brief writes one work order per cluster rather than one per page.
Suppressed on JavaScript shells. A page with no text in its source HTML would trip this check for a reason that is already reported as js-shell, and repeating it four times is not four times as informative.
pipx install indexgap
cd your-project
indexgap init
indexgap check
Then indexgap brief turns
every finding on this page into a work order in indexgap-briefs/,
with the thresholds the result has to satisfy and the command to check it.
